Queef Huffer / Nothin' Suss - Split CD

This is (now) a fairly old split released by Rotten Roll, putting US goregrinders Queef Huffer up against Aussie equivalent Nothin' Suss. The whole thing kicks off with Nothin' Suss' tracks, and whilst there isn't anything particularly that much at fault with the band, the overall production is pretty shabby to be honest.

Queef Huffer on the other hand, have their shit together. The production is much more on point; everything is clear and concise. It is quite interesting to see the band thanking a studio that has never recorded goregrind before in the linear notes. This is a gory, groovy, watery mess.

This split is something like 10 years old now, which is fucking terrifying, as it reminds me of how many years of my life I've wasted been enjoying listening to stuff like this! Check out this beauty of a track:

Libido Airbag - Sleaze Servant

Sleaze Servant is the new EP from long-time techno-gore-grind filth mongers, Libido Airbag; a "band" so balls deep in scum and vulgar sounds that even your gran loves a dance to some of their older tunes. They've hardly pumped out volumes of material in their long existence, but the fact that they can still develop and spew out fresh sounds in such a restrictive genre is a testament to gore and porno grind, especially the latter, which often gets bogged down with oceans of crap digi-bedroom projects. Please ladies and gentlemen, just because you've found out how to work a drum machine, it doesn't mean you can't start a fuckin' grindcore band.

But I digress. Sleaze Servant is exactly what the title promises it will be. Whilst a layer of filth has definitely been peeled away from The Airbag as they have progressed into the HD world; those old, minging recordings from the past were a lot sketchier than the pristine techno instrumentation on this record. Don't get me wrong though, it's still mankin' as absolute fuck; the title track and "Black Mark Of The Iron Phallus" are examples of Libido Airbag at their titty-clamping best (edit: what?), whilst "Rectum Ritual" and "Praise The Placentagram" are filthy, delicious, and I guess in a really twisted way, just pure fucking genius. 10/10 for nastiness!

Intestinal Disgorge - Sociopath

Jesus, where to begin? Ha ha! Sociopath is probably one of the most difficult albums to write about, simply because it's a 40 track long mess of hilarious grinding terror. Intestinal Disgorge might have a name that is typical of the grindcore genre but their sound is entirely unique. I promise you that you've never heard anything quite like this before. Intestinal Disgorge play some of the most hateful, blast-happy, mysogynistic grindcore that I have ever come across. They smash this approach head on with all the silliness in the universe. The results can only be absolutely catastrophic, and that my friends is a bloody good thing.

Each Intestinal Disgorge blast of grind is laced with a whole mental asylum worth of unusual vocal styles - most noticeably their trademark "bitch squeals", which cut through the music at any given time and without any apparent pattern or prior warning. One second you're ripping through some shit-hot awesome grindcore without a care in the world and the next there is this horrendous screaming cutting through that is equal parts worrying and hilarious. Couple that with endless death metal style growls, rabid pitchshifter lows, sung and shouted cleans and the odd King Diamond impression and you should have some idea of what Intestinal Disgorge sound like, that is if you can arrange all of that in your head with going insane.

Opening track "I'm Wearing Your Panties" is an absolute gem of a grind tune, as is "Stupid Fucking Whore Bitch", which channels so much fury and hate for women. I tried to post it on my girlfriend's Facebook wall but I couldn't find a YouTube link, to my endless disappointment. My favourite track on this album though is "Pedofile", which is alarmingly funny as fuck, considering it's subject matter. The "King Diamond" tracks (as I like to call them) that open, close and intermit the album are also great.

I've already got an Intestinal Disgorge split 7" in my collection but finally getting my hands on this Rotten Roll Rex released CD (thanks to Bones Brigade) has rekindled my worrying interest in this spectacularly funny grindcore project.

Satan's Revenge On Mankind - Goreblast

This was one of my first proper tastes of goregrind. I'd discovered the genre online, but this was one of the first records I actually owned, so it holds a special place in my heart (hahaha). Goreblast is an absolute festering mess of picollo snares, shifted vokills and all the fuzz in Germany (or is that Goremany?). Imagine Putrefaction In Progress-era LDOH but slowed down to a doom metal pace and with actual song structure. Throw in a couple of cheekily punky numbers and a myriad of weirdly blasphemous themes (not a usual staple of the goregrind genre, I'll be honest) and you've got Satan's Revenge On Mankind. The tray card reads "Satan's Revenge On Mankind is anti-vegetarian and pro-atom". That pretty much says it all really. On the inner by the disc is the slogan "Satan, Gore & Meat". That fucking NEEDS to be put on a t-shirt.

Opener "Vaticandestruction" is a sprawling wreck of a band warming up to disturbing samples, before said band burst into a hat-trick of SxRxOxMx classics; "We Come To Eat You" followed by "Gorevolution" and "Hyperbrutal Splattersatan". Some tracks fall into the comedic theme of something altogether more Anal Cunt ("I Hate Music", "I Hate Nature" and "Jesus Loves You Because He's Gay" as examples), whilst others spin off into something else entirely ("Invoking The Glorious Sado-Nuclear Extermination Of The Christian Plague" and "Infernal Christ Corpse Hacking Butcher Command On Behalf Of The Great Eternal Master Of Hell's Purifying Fire" anyone?). My personal favourite however is "Angels Taste Like Chicken". Groovy!

Throw in a bunch of awfully fantastic artwork and silly musician names and you have the recipe for the greatest goregrind in the universe. This was one of the first CDs that Rotten Roll did, and along with the Splatter Whore debut record, that label was off to a fucking flying start back in '06/7. So if you're into goregrind and are yet to hear the delights that The Almighty Mr. Goreblast and his band of heathen swine invoke, now is the time!

Mixomatosis - Neurofibroma Mixoide

This CD is by far the best Mixomatosis stuff that I have heard so far! I'm not that familiar with them; everything I own by them has a different sound, but Neurofibroma Mixoide has a solid and well-rounded sound that is consistent from start to finish. Ladies and gentlemen, this is some good-ass grindcore! Typically it was released on the equally as awesome label, Rotten Roll Rex back in 2007.

The whole thing kicks off with the title track, a growly number of intense fury which moves back and forth between blasting grind and flat-out punk style riffing, with hilarious yelped vocals. After that the songs blast by at a ferocious pace; "El Carnicero De Africa" (which the band contributed a live version of to my old label's first 7" compilation) is a favourite of mine, as is the Carnal Diafragma cover at track 12; "Stench Vaginalis".

Unfortunately the entire thing is over far too quickly and I am left wanting more sick Spanish goregrind, but it is not to be! Onward to buying more Mixomatosis shits! I think my next step will be the Mixomatosis / 2 Minuta Dreka split 7", as that will also bring me a step closer to getting all the 2MD stuff as well.

Hymen Holocaust - Hot Love

I suppose it was only a matter of time before Hymen Holocaust did an album for Rotten Roll; nasty European goregrind and that label go hand in hand! Hymen Holocaust is my favourite type of goregrind. Sure, it doesn't blast a thousand times a minute, but it's slow, heavy, nasty, watery as fuck and absolutely hanging. It's what GUT should have "cumback" sounding like, give or take a nudge on the groove and porn factors. If you could only describe filthy as a sound...you'd get Hymen Holocaust, and I'm not talking "my girlfriend likes kissing other girls" filthy, I'm talking "piss on me and call me a whore" filthy. You read that right.

The whole thing opens and closes with some creepy piano shit but other than that and the odd horror movie sample separating a few songs, the whole thing sounds like one big garbled mush. I don't mean that in a bad way, I'm just saying there's nothing really stand out here; it's just one fairly short album of pure groovy goregrind and all the songs kinda blur together. Hymen Holocaust records only differ slightly from each one production wise, so people experienced with his/their works shouldn't expect anything groundbreaking here, just more sloshy as fuck love anthems from some of Europe's leading (red) lights in the goregrind scene. We demand more Hymen Holocaust!!! Grindcore is love!!!

Necro Tampon / Gonorrhea Pussy - Split CD

This was one of the first goregrind splits I ever got hold of, so therefore it holds a very special place in my heart (ha ha). Both bands seem to have fallen into obscurity these days, but this is still worth talking about. It's maybe not the longest CD in the world, but it's still worth getting if you see it around. If you are interested in groovy, nasty goregrind in any way I strongly recommend it.

The fantastically named Gonorrhoea Pussy start things off. The mix is a bit strange at first, sounding very hollow, and it takes a while to get used to. The drums are very high up in the mix and possibly a little too treated, whilst the guitar is fuzzy and muddy. The vocals are of the usual pitchshifted stock, although different enough to keep purists interested. It doesn't really matter though, once you start feeling that groove you want to start dancing around like a cretin, and that is the only seal of approval I need. The intro and outro tracks alone are just samples (although the first has some instrumental parts), bringing the GxPx tracklisting down to just three songs, which are over far too quickly.

Necro Tampon are a bit more chaotic in their approach, but still share the muddy, nasty rehearsal room sound of GxPx. Necro Tampon are also a bit faster, and their drummer seems more partial to playing something outside of the 4/4 beat. The guitars are absolutely absymal (and I mean that in the nicest way possible), reminding more of Anal Cunt than any names from the goregrind world. They play a few more tracks than GxPx, but again their turn comes to a close fairly swiftly as well.

This was released by the excellent German label / distro Rotten Roll Rex, more commonly known as RRR. As they have recently redesigned their shopfront, now is a good a time as ever to click on that link and have a gander a whole world of grindcore.

Splatter Whore / Bowel Stew - Split 7"

I absolutely love Splatter Whore. It's a bit sad they have gone rather quiet these days, but their first album remains one of my favourite goregrind (or grind'n'roll!) releases ever. I wasn't as fussed on the second album (with an almost completely different line up, I believe) but this split 7" with Bowel Stew showcases material that displays openly the transition between records. The sound is fantastic and extremely well produced. The band are tighter than a virgin's pootang and the vocals are an absolutely insane watery hell. If you love stuff like Rompeprop you need to check out this band.

Long-running gore legends Bowel Stew don't quite reach the heights of awesomeness of Splatter Whore, but it's still a good effort. Pairing the filth of goregrind up with something altogether more brutal death metal, Bowel Stew blast and gurgle through seemingly endless amounts of untitled songs (or is that just one long song?). The vocals are nuts, just like Splatter Whore, but the main put-off for me here is the snare sound, which is quite possibly the most annoying thing on the planet. I've not heard a more irritating and puzzling snare drum sound since The Berzerker's rather flaccid The Reawakening album.

As far as I know this isn't too difficult to obtain on black vinyl, although the brown vinyl is only limited to 100 copies and is long sold out, obviously. This was put out a good few years ago now on Rotten Roll Rex from Spermany. Check out the online store! Unfortunately there are no links for this release on YouTube.
