Splatter Whore - Kaviar Die Hards

If Pantera and Rompeprop had a baby it would sound like this. I shit you not. In what is possibly one of the most under-rated goregrind (gore ‘ n’ roll? Gore metal?) releases of all time, Splatter Whore burst onto the unsuspecting underground like a full colostomy bag hitting the pavement after being thrown from the roof of a multi-storey car park. It’s wet as fuck and extremely hard hitting. Lol. Metallic riffage and more traditional song structures meet the watery bowels of grind; the sloshing gore vocals, the disturbing samples and the repugnant subject matter. I think I’m getting a semi.

A gang-vocal chanted chorus of “Online Underage Gangbang” literally makes me howl with laughter every time I hear it. “Foul Stench From The Vents” is ridiculously catchy, as is “Rohypnol Power Hour” and “Golden Shower Glory Hole”. The opening track, “Triple X Malpractice” remains one of my favourite things ever in the history of time.

The fact that this was the release that birthed Rotten Roll Rex cements it’s coolness and absolute essentiality in the goregrind underworld. And the fact that the album art was supplied by a genuine Splatter Whore fan who relieved herself in her panties and took some pictures is… worrying…exciting? Nah, I’m not German enough to be into piss.

2 Minuta Dreka / Anal Massaker - Split 7"

I've been meaning to finish my 2 Minuta Dreka collection off for a while, so I was well happy when I caught this in Sete Star Sept's distro at OEF. Now I'm one step further to my goal! 2 Minuta Dreka have some great songs here; "Fecal Raptus" is off the full length I know, but it's cool to own it on 7" as well as it's such a good song. I'm not sure if it is the exact same recording as the album version, but it's very similar. Besides, the other tracks aren't on the full length so all is well and good. Also, bonus points for hilarious artwork!

I couldn't get into Anal Massaker on the first listen. The grind is all good, but I found the vocals to be a bit lacklustre, although eventually they grew on me and now I have another grindcore/noisecore band that I want to hunt down a discography for! Cool / not cool at the same time! I love the warm and fuzzy sound the band has here, it's just great. What the fascination is with Sesame Street characters is though, I'm not quite sure. Sesamegrind?

Anyways this was put out as a collaboration between Nihulus and Raw Noise, and is limited to 500 copies, of which I have number 161. Tops!

GUT / Rompeprop - Split 7"

GUT sounds absolutely huge on vinyl, I just wish they'd stop fucking around and play some more grind! I love the fun element of modern GUT whereas a lot of goregrinders shun them now, but on this record for the most part it's a template of "typical porn sample followed by uninspired five-to-ten second song with silly vocals". I am glad that I didn't shell out the earth for the original CD version of this, and I even commend Everydayhate for putting this on wax. Not to mention, "Nympho is a Gee" is my all time favourite GUT song (either that or "The Taboo Room"). But, unfortunately, the rest of the GUT side is massively disappointing, and often boring.

Rompeprop on the other hand simply cannot be faulted. Open up the sleeve and see written "If you think harmonizer / pitchshifter-vocals are fake, so is your distortion on your guitar!". That couldn't be more right! Big up the pitchshifted vokills! After the hilarious opener "Hallo!", Rompeprop gurgle'n'slam through some excellent polka-dance inducing goregrind for us all. 'Nuff said. Spin this, get up, wiggle back and forth and point those fingers.

Out on 500 copies, all of which may be white, I am not sure. I have number 234 / 500.
