Glowering - Demo 2012

Glowering is a side project ov the tr00 and totes brutes invokator of gore noise havoc, Bobby Maggard. This time however, Bobby puts aside his hacksaw and bloodstained apron in favour of a pentagram-topped staff and a severed goat's head hollowed out to make a snug little mask, as black metal is the theme of the day. But this ain't no ordinary romp through black metal, no sir. It's quite annoying actually, because a few months ago I was looking for something just like this, and turns out it had been sitting on my CD shelf all along.

Glowering's 2012 demo mixes the dissonance of harsh noise (in a gorenoise style, if I can be so rediculous to try and point that out) with the ambience and imagery of black metal, creating a truly hellish listening experience that is sonically abrasive, but rather unfortunately, quite irritating by duration's end. Black metal often sounds like it was recorded in a wind tunnel. This is the wind tunnel.

Urinary Tract Infection From Severe Pus Clots - Demo 1

Urinary Tract Infection From Severe Pus Clots is one of Bobby Maggard's more prolific and well known projects, this one bridging the gap between noisecore and goregrind very nicely. Demo 1 contains 98 bursts of pitchshifted bile-inducing noisecore madness. A lot of this stuff kinda all blurs into one but this has a really good vibe and it's absolutely sick as fuck. The bass is a bit furry and the Myspace-as-fuck Rhythm Rascal drum programming is a bit cheap but hey, this shit fucking rules. I'm a sucker for wastoid noise grind like this and it's hard to top noisecore as furious as this is, even though there's a drum machine and not a real drummer on board. 

For when you absolutely have to sit around in your pants watching sketchy Asian porn, this is your soundtrack.

Gangliocytoma - Glioblastoma Multiforme Tumors Generally Characterized By The Presence Of Small Areas Of Necrotizing Tissue

Gangliocytoma is a drum machine grindcore project that mixes razor sharp guitar work with the muddy blurs of gorenoise and goregrind. Expect relentless drum machine barrages, endless guitar explosions and then on top of it all the signature goregrind watery bowels explusion. Despite the mile-a-second goregrind relentlessness, riffs are actually present and audible. Fancy that! It's not a very long release, yet it's only a demo so I wouldn't expect hours of material. But hey, it's another wicked-rediculous goregrind project entering into this world and I am super OK with that.

Less talky, more grindy.

Slithis' Revenge - The Human Race Deserves to Rot in the Waste He has Created​.​.​.

Bobby M is upon us again with a slightly-less-gory approach to noise, which is unusual, to say the least. Perhaps surprisingly for music of this genre, Slithis' Revenge focusses on the destruction that mankind has wreaked upon the earth as subject matter. I'd never in a million years consider there to be a market for environmentally-friendly gorenoise, but the world is full of surprises. 

If you think the artwork looks horrendous, then nothing can prepare your ears for the actual audio assault that is about to follow. Guitars are actually audible, which is another unusual factor in this project, and as far as I can tell, are totally devoid of any tuning. The drum machine sounds like it's constantly going to burst into a breakcore-patent snare rush or something, and those good ol' bubbling septic tank vocals are back, because hey, it wouldn't be a gorenoise record without them.

Extreme Putrefaction - Marbling And Skin Slippage In Early To Modern Putrefaction

Extreme Putrefaction is another project in the gazillion ranks of noisemongering goregrind king Bobby Maggard. This particular little variant mixes bassy harsh noise with unstoppable drum machine attacks and septic tank gurgles. To get artsy fartsy in the descriptive sense, imagine earlier, analogue pedal Merzbow jamming with Urine Festival. Extreme Putrefaction literally sounds like shit pellets being machine gunned into a cesspool of unspeakable filthy depths. 

For the uninitiated, 'gorenoise' can seem like quite an intimidating music genre but once you get used to the rediculously NSFW release artwork that comes with it, you can really lose yourself in some filthy (and often puzzling) sounds. To be slightly more controversial, America should be torturing terror suspects with this shit, not fucking Metallica records.

Chloroformed Female Victim - Demo #1

There comes a time in every musician's life where they must stop and think "why do I do this? What is the point in my existence and in turn, my creative output?". I've definitely asked myself that question many, many times. I assume then, that gore-legend and general all-round good egg Bobby Maggard never has, what with his seemingly never-ending repertoire of projects, bands and label releases. The amount of stuff this guy (and his cohorts-in-gore) churn out never ceases to totally astound me...what we have here is a fellow totally dedicated to his scene, his sound, and his dodgy xeroxed gore artwork.

Chloroformed Female Victim is one of Bobby's many hundreds of thousands of goregrind-related projects (slight over-exaggeration), who recorded their first demo abouts a year ago. What we have here is a 2-person aural assault of drum-machine fuelled, unrelenting goregrind. Or is that gorenoise? I'm not sure really where the line between the two blurs, but this is pretty abrasive stuff! The "21 Untitled Trx" are over in just shy of 15 minutes, so it's a short journey of blasting hellnoise, complete with the odd creepy spoken sample to really set it off. Sexy!

If you're familiar with the works of Mr. Maggard (and Mr. Astor) then you will no doubt know what to expect from a release such as this, but if you're not sure about things then be prepared to have your head cut off, hollowed out and stuffed with faeces. Dehydrated Tissues - Gore Junkie

Holy shit this is some of the groovyest goregrind stuff I've heard in a long while! I just wanna get up and dance around the house, or more preferably a muddy field in the Czech Republic. I'm glad to be set to release a 4" record of this guy later this year - that is something I am greatly looking forward to. Pairing the nasty sounds of early LDOH with the "vibe" that I can only associate with the Myspace days of goregrind, and taking the groovy riffs and pitchshifted vocal styles along the lines of Rompeprop, Dehydrated Tissues packs a hell of a gory punch!

 

Gore Junkie was written and recorded entirely by the one member of the group; Bobby Maggard. It was also self-released on his own label, the aptly-titled Regurgitated Stoma Stew Productions. Bowel Rot - All You Need Is Hate

Now this IS interesting. I suppose just like me you have always wondered what happens when you mix Anal Cunt's offensive comedy / hate grind with pitchshifted goregrind from hell? Ha ha! Well, the end result turns out sounding a lot like Bowel Rot, who have managed to surprise me with some originality regarding the mixing up of sub-genres. I can safely say I had never thought of this type of mix before.

The guitar work is sludgy and down-tuned  just like early AxCx, but the typical riffs and blasts are over-lapped by frenetic goregrind blasting and horrendous pitchshifted vocals, which really does make for an interesting listen. Some of the song titles are absolute gems as well. We can thank No Effort Recordings for bringing us this 35-track album on a fairly professional looking CDr format.

Semen Demon - A Cunt Cum Cunt Platter

If the name of this record and the artwork above screams out to you - "Porngrind!" then guess what? You're fucking wrong, bitches! What we have here is an ear-melting cacophony of rancid fucking gorenoise. Ok, maybe not flat out noise but noise-core. Don't forget the core! It reminds me of VRV, the way the drum machine is pushed out to the max and just left to blast away unhindered, when all the wasps in the world come out of my speakers (the guitars, if you haven't guessed). Over the top are the treble-worrying pitchshifted vocals. Lovely jubbly! Out on Ecclesia Inferi Records and limited to 40 copies on CDr only!
