Slimewave #4 - Japanische Kampfhorspiele / Bathtub Shitter - Split 7"

Slimewave #4 featuring Japanische Kampfhorspiele & Bathtub Shitter. Limited to 1000 copies on Relapse Records. 900 on white/orange haze and 100 on clear, as per Relapse tradition. This here copy is number 159 of 1000.

Bathtub Shitter bring the chunky, Eastern gore grind to Relapse's compilation. You just can't help but love it. JxKx on the other hand, have a really meaty sound that belongs more in metal that it does in grind, but that doesn't mean they can't play!

Slimewave #5 - XXX Maniak / Throatplunger - Split 7"

Slimewave Series #5 featuring XXX Maniak & Throatplunger, limited to 1000 records on Relapse Records. 100 pressed on clear, 400 pressed on yellow/green and 500 pressed on red/yellow. I have number 420.

This was the first Slimewave 7" I got my hands on and it's one of my favourite releases by both bands involved. XXX Maniak's new cleaner sound was a teaser for what was to come on their split with Coffins, and Throatplunger are just completely insane, hands down.

Slimewave #6 - Mumakil / Inhume - Split 7"

Slimewave Series #6 featuring Mumakil & Inhume. Part 6 of 6 in Relapse's infamous gore grind compilation series. This is number 778 out of a 1000 pressed, and out of 300 on yellow. There are an extra 300 on green, 300 more on green/red splatter and 100 on clear, as per always with Relapse.

I must have been living under a rock in the gore grind scene when Relapse started putting out the Slimewave 7"s, as I didn't get into them until #5 was released. As expected, with the CD release of the full Slimewave series (featuring extra tracks), these original 7"s have become serious collectors items. #6 is probably the least sought after. The further you go back in issues, the more expensive they become and more difficult they are to find.

V/A - Shred Yr Face 2 - Split 7"

Shred Yr Face is a 3-way split 7" featuring The Bronx, Fucked Up & Rolo Tomassi. It was released on a pressing of 1000 red by Wichita Recordings, Matador Records, Hassle Records & the somewhat elusive Coalition Records in 2009. It was sold on the tour featuring all three of the bands on the record.

I picked this up in Spillers Records a while ago, I remember buying it because it was cheap and I'd heard of all the bands on there. I remember particularly good praise for Rolo Tomassi. I guess this is an OK record, excellent if you love this kind of stuff, but I find it goes unplayed most of the time. Would consider selling / trading; there's nothing wrong with it, there's just a million other things I would rather own instead.

V/A - Obscenity Cult Records' Extreme Audio Gangbang 01 - Split 7"

Obcenity Cult Records presents Extreme Audio Gangbang 01 featuring Vaginal Necrosis, Bitchslicer, It Will End In Pure Horror & Wallygrinder. Limited to 500 copies on purple. The colour of the artwork varies from white, purple, orange to several other colours.

I got this off Mike from Vaginal Necrosis when he had a few copies to sell off. It's not bad; a strange mix of gore grind and cyber grind, if there ever was one! The best material is by Vaginal Necrosis and Bitchslicer.

V/A - Unlawful Grindcore Assembly - Split 7"

Unlawful Grindcore Assembly Compilation 7" featuring Pestilent Decay, Gate, Watch Me Burn, Bloodred Bacteria, Mierda Para Todos, Cara De Mil Putazos, Fetus Eaters, Deadfood, The Kill, Tu Carne, Wasteoid, Embalming Theare, Sayyadina, Pinata Lazer, Unholy Grave, Gored Face, Godstomper, Kerum, Nukum, Unholy Semen, 2 Minuta Dreka & Coprophagigs. Unknown amount pressing on transparent blue, released in 2005 by Nuclear BBQ Party Records.

I got this free when I bought the Agathocles / Embalming Theatre split 7" off Ebay; I guess the guy I bought it off ran the label. It's a bit hit and miss, but it's definitely a great cross section of grindcore music, from gore and porn through to noisecore and straight up traditional grind. An interesting listen when you feel you can look past the distortion barrier.

V/A - Six Lessons Of Hate - Split 7"

6 Lessons Of Hate 7" Compilation featuring Subduxtion, Urophagia, Deterioration, Nippercreep, Fecal Bacteria & Mixomatosis. Released on the now defunct Valley Of Death Records (which was run by myself, of all people). 250 were pressed on black, 250 on blue/green splatter. This particular record is number 111 out of 500.

I learned all about the ups and downs of running an indy label whilst working on this 7" record. It's a lot harder than you would think, and a lot more expensive. The original goal was to create a 12" compilation with a whole range of bands. That eventually ended up as a 7" because I got sick of trying to keep track of everyone. In the end I think that the diversity here led more to the record's failure, rather than help it sell. It opens with a techno beat, blasts through some gore grind and then shreds through death metal, before side B introduces us to thrash influenced hardcore punk, more gore grind and then finishing with a bad live recording of Mixomatosis. The Urophagia track is hands down my favourite. The artwork is by the hugely talented horror / comic book artist Lou Rusconi.

I am proud to say, however, that this is still for sale on Rotten Roll.

Oh, and the extra photos above are of the test pressings.

2 Minuta Dreka / Necrocannibalistic Vomitorium - Split 7"

2 Minuta Dreka's somewhat disappointing split with Necrocannibalistic Vomitorium, on black, again out on Grind Block Records. Number 468 of 500. I got this in Hellfest 2010, on the Bones Brigade stall. 2 Minuta Dreka's offering is a harsh, distorted live set, including 2 cover songs, and it's far from being their best recording. Definitely a completist's item, and I would even maybe consider selling. Oh and what about Necrocannibalistic Vomitorium? Well, the less said about that side this time, the better.

2 Minuta Dreka / Carcass Grinder - Split 7"

2 Minuta Dreka split with Carcass Grinder 7" on black, released through 2 Minuta Dreka's own label Grind Block Records. Pressing of 500, all one colour.

This is the first ever 2 Minuta Dreka release I bought (I think, from www.rottenroll.de), and I was drawn in with their bludgeoning groovy gore grind with it's clammy, rehearsal room feel. Carcass Grinder however have a much more punky sound.
