Necrocannibalistic Vomitorium - Motiva Pervertiva

(I implore you to forgive me the ridiculously low quality of today's upload. This is literally impossible to track down online, and I unfortunately do not own a copy of the super-limited lathe cut 7". That being said, if anyone has any hi-res scans of the cover art that would do this post more justice, then please, by all means, feel free to get in contact with me, and of course upload the pictures to Discogs too).

Almost matching the lo fi sleeve is the nasty lo fi goodness from everyone's favourite obscure gore/porngrind couple. The bass tone on this thing is unreal; it's like, I can't decide if it is fucking abysmal or absolutely amazing - it is hovering in between in an endless duality. I'd be lying if I said there was anything new here for Necrocannibalistic Vomitorium fans, but if you are into this shit then you are gonna love this EP (or just this YouTube link, because finding one is probably gonna be a fuckin' task). There is just a certain charm to this band; it almost sounds like everything is recorded using analogue equipment. It sounds old, and nasty as fuck, and that's absolutely fine by me.

Quagga - Quagga (6", Lathe)

Quagga is the solo-project of Goatgrind Records genius Nappy. This is his debut, and only, release under that name, playing lo-fi, gurgling goregrind. I think that this was a "test" release to sample the quality of the lathe cuts that Graham from 2208 Records produced, as it is only limited to 5 copies. I am lucky enough to be able to own one of these gems, by total chance! Remember kids, always tick shit you want on Discogs, you never know who is watching!

This 6" is listed as a 5" on Discogs, but it's definitely a 6", I measured the bastard, as I have little to no life. And, to top that off, it's only one-sided so it doesn't last very long. I guess though it doesn't really need to; it gets it's point across in a few short, garbled bursts of goregrind hell. This one is a keeper (it even has my name on it, so I guess it's mine forever!).

P.S. Please excuse the smaller-than-usual cover art photo for this post, I fucked up the photography and it's blurry as shit, but it looks OK at a smaller resolution.

Ostie - Howls Of The Dead / From The Hate Factory

I have been warned in advance of how nasty these picture lathes sound, but I am pleasantly surprised by how clear everything is...I have heard some absolutely fucking shocking lathe cuts, and this is far, far from the worst. From what I can tell this is two one-sided lathes glued back to back, with a picture trapped between them...that's a pretty ingenious way of making DIY picture discs, I gotta say. I dunno who cut these, but they were released by Ostie himself in Canada and Legs Akimbo Records in the UK.

"Howls Of The Dead" is pretty entertaining, not to mention kvlt as fvck, complete with sampled wolves and some serious riffage. "From The Hate Factory" however cements the reminder that Ostie must be a joke, despite it's super-serious black metal vibe. Anyways, these are pretty rare, not to mention collectable as fvck (I mean, just look at it!) so I'll be holding onto this like it was the last thing on earth. Seriously cool! Or should that be "seriously frostbitten"?

Paul Phipps - The Very Best of Paul Phipps (6", Lathe, Square)

Don't let the heart-melting picture of Mr. Phipps' dog Levi on the centre-label give you the wrong idea; this record is an absolute nightmare! Paul Phipps - the guy behind Rectal Twat, Cocksnot., Wolf Pussy and many other projects that are hard on the ears - presents a small cross-section of "songs" that he considers his personal best. That sits well with me! Prepare your lugholes for 2 sides of absolute noisecore annihilation! This even contains the song "Sean Jenkins is a Bitch" from the Fart Wank / Rectal Twat split tape. I am famous!!

This was cut by Graham Baldwin (the same guy who did these) and is strictly limited to 5 copies, so I'm pretty lucky to be owning one, in all fairness. Check out 2208 Records for more cutting info and samples of all the work he's done so far!

Clunge / Hyperemesis - Split 6" Lathe

I put this out around Christmas time on my part-time label Pointless Records, and even managed to shift all ten copies. Holy shit, that's a fucking first! Ha ha. These were cut for me by a lovely American chap by the name of Graham, who was exceptional in handling this project. Get at me for his contact info, if your looking for some cutting.

Obviously I can't review Clunge as it's my creation but I will say that Canadian one-man goregrinder Hyperemesis does make a pretty impressive gurgling racket. Below is a link to the Pointless Bandcamp page where you can download the whole thing for free, or just give it a stream. I was going to upload an actual lathe play through in all it's mono crackling glory, but I still haven't got around to doing it. D'oh!
