7 Minutes Of Nausea / Gorgonized Dorks - Split 7"

Old 7MON live stuff compiled here in a split with prolific noise mongers Gorgonized Dorks. On black, and strictly limited to 338 copies on Bringer Of Gore Records. I have number 57.

I got this from Katz in Gorgonized Dorks when we were mailing each other about the Fart Wank / Gorgonized Dorks lathe cut split square 8" that never materialized (but now with the existence of Pointless Records, could maybe see the light of day). The Gorgonized Dorks side represents their sound fully, and is almost typical of them. 7MON's side consists of a horrible live recording from the 1980s.

Gorgonized Dorks / Xanax Feast - Split 7"

Gorgonized Dorks may be painfully noisy in their approach to grind, but at least they do it right. Odd keyboard tones accompany crusty drumming and a highly-punk-influenced guitar and bass performance. It's highly infectious stuff, torn apart by vocalist Katz' harsh laments. If you like this or not will depend entirely on your tolerance for the noisier, more distorted side of grind.

 

Not so much can be said for Xanax Feast, unfortunately. You can barely hear the music at all, just a purring bass line and a flurry of horrid, fake sounding cymbals. These are basically made inept by the extra-loud vocal attack of what seems to be several vocalists. It's just so bad. It doesn't work for me at all. Apparently, these are live recordings, so Xanax Feast may have a second chance to impress me in the future. However, I feel sorry for the label who had to pay to put this shit on a proper 7". Apparently, these copies are extras from an initial run of 100.

Gorgonized Dorks / Humanextermination Project - Split Tape

"It's really hard to tell which side is which!" These are my first thoughts upon playing this little brown rectangle of hell. Both sides feature noise maniac Katz Seki, and I'm not sure what is meant to be Gorgonized Dorks and what is meant to be his solo/side project Humanextermination Project. After inspecting the packaging it seems that drums are only credited to the G.Dorks side so what I am listening to now must be them. This is apparently recorded live, and when it does sound rough as hell, it has a more d.i.y. studio feel than a live recording. It is horrible noise, but it is recorded well, regardless! The ever-prolific Gorgonized Dorks can be a bit hit and miss on occasion, but there is something about their strangle concoction of noisecore that keeps me coming back for more. I guess I have a limited noisecore palette, and Gorgonized Dorks is lodged firmly on that palette. 

I flip the tape over after a few minutes to catch a bit of side B to finish off this quick review and instead of the expected noise attack I am subjected to a whole bunch of shitty country music. I'm not sure if this is inserted as some sort of sick joke (if it is then it works, this God loving Western shit is physically nauseating and forty times more horrible than any noise music) or if it's just left at the end of a dub-over, but jesusfuck! Someone make it stop! I'm done with this confusing-ass tape!

Oh, and by the way, this was dubbed on one of America's finest shitty-noisecore tape labels; Sludglesicle Records. Go check them out, they don't half get through some releases.
