Pressterror - Drrrrrrrressurection Of Suizidcore EP!

Holy shit what the fuck is going on here!? Ha ha! This is some out-there shit! I've experienced gabba and speedcore before but this is a bit more on the edge of insanity; sometimes it goes so fast that there are just blurs of drum hits in a row that sound like a goddamn machine malfunctioning or something. When it slows down enough for some semblance of a beat to kick in, shit is fucking amazing. The sampling is crazy and haywire, coming in where the "songs" seemingly stop, chop and change at various times for any apparent reason.

This 12" comes off looking like a single release but it's actually pretty lengthy, giving you more head-melting gabba noise for your buck! What more could you want, other than maybe a bunch of hard drugs to bash into your skull whilst listening to this? By the time track 3 "Fuck You Haters" is on (towards the end of side A) I feel like my brain is trying to leak out of my nose, which I'm not sure is a good thing or a bad thing. I guess it depends on what you want from your music!

Legs Akimbo pressed this abomination of musical integrity onto a 12" so we could all sit back and close our eyes and pretend we are running through California naked whilst higher than a motherfucker on bath salts, chewing off people's faces. That's certainly what I feel like doing after 25 minutes or so of "Suizidcore". I would say this was definitely a niche release but fuck it, everybody should hear this absolute fucking monster at least once.

NUH - Remixes Hideous Miscreation

I've not heard the source material for this remix, but I'm not entirely sure if I need to, if I'm honest. The thing with remixes of this nature is that the songs are usually so mutated from their original form that they have become brand new entities in their own right. Mixing gabba techno with awkward synths and nifty, sneaky little drum'n'bass passages, NUH really makes a fucking meal out of whatever source material Hideous Miscreation left to be devoured. Shit, I dunno whether to get up and dance or fucking smash my house to pieces. What a dilemma!

Side B continues the madness, opening straight up with more gabba brutality. Jeez! I'm proper loving this shit! Gonna be checking out more stuff by NUH in the very near future. Out thanks to Legs Akimbo Records, who seem to specialise in this unique brand of gabba-orientated punishment, and limited to 110 copies on evil black wax. Get in!

Alec Empire - Intelligence and Sacrifice

Another nostalgic blast from the past for me! Thanks to Zoverstocks selling on Amazon for 3p a record, I managed to get my hands on another album that I've put off buying for years. Before the artfags get all up in my grill about how my info on Mr. Empire is all wrong, I must tell you I write this all as an outsider to Alec Empire's / Atari Teenage Riot's long career(s).

This is another one of those albums that treads into the dangerous territory of mixing hardcore dance music with metal. As we all know, that either goes really well (The Berzerker) or really, really badly (Tourette Syndrom - sorry guys! Ha ha). Alec Empire tends here to stick to more digestible song structures that the two previously mentioned examples, so the chance of him going wrong is a lot lower. However, this record is definitely not for everyone. I'm not even sure if it is for me. I tend to come back to it every so often with a grin and a thought along the lines of "this is genius " but just as often put it back on the shelf thinking "Jesus, my head hurts, make it stop!".

There are some cracking stand-out tracks here, however. "Everything Starts with a Fuck" (both parts) is the best example of what this record is all about, and is, in a word: stonking. Lead single "Addicted to You" is simply just that; addictive, if you'd excuse the awful choice of words. And, for those of you with a disdain for the regular song structures, the album comes with a huge bonus disc of extra material filled to the brim with all sorts of weird shit; some of it bordering on harsh noise, some of it dancey, and some of it is just half-hour long ambient soundscapes. A bit of everything, then. In fact, the whole package is a bit much and a touch overwhelming. Out on DHR, which is Empire's own label.

Adrenalin Junkies - Outcry

As I am sure many of you are aware, Earache Records went through a puzzling phase in the 90s, signing all sorts of rave, dance, gabba and electronic music to the label. One such short-lived act was Adrenalin Junkies. There isn't much to say about this bog-standard dance record, other than I got it for next to nothing one day when I was buying a whole bunch of shit from Earache. I'm not even sure if this is collectable to fans of the genre this is associated with, but if anyone wants it just give me a shout as I am willing to sell / trade this as it is of no value to me whatsoever.
