This post is about Anal Cunt's 2001 EP "Defenders Of The Hate", which was released not too long before Seth fell into a coma. It was re-released on CD in 2007 by the same label (Menace To Sobriety records) bolstered by a bunch of other tracks from various compilations and splits. As far as I'm aware, all versions of this record are on black.
Aesthetically, the record is pretty standard and boring. It has a right wing vibe to it, something I doubt Earache would have ever let them do. Musically, it's probably some of my favourite Anal Cunt material. For once, they seem to have a decent drummer in tow, one perfectly capable of blasting endlessly. The guitars and vocals are of the usual dirgy, disgusting Anal Cunt sound, Lyrically, it's some of the most offensive in the band's back catalogue, the homophobic and anti-Semitic leanings increase quite worryingly on this release. Granted, AxCx should always be taken with a pinch of salt!
The cover and labels were cheaply done because ,at the tim, it wasn't something importnant to Seth or I. The music is what mattered. Still,one of my favorite MTS releases to date.
